We are pleased to invite you to our 6-week Thursday morning mens study called "Christianity and Culture".
January 30th to March 6th
Thursday mornings from 6:30 to 7:30 am at North Shore Alliance Church.
In this course, we’ll explore how to engage with culture through a gospel-centered lens. Here’s a brief overview of what we’ll discuss:
- A Gospel Lens: We’ll learn how to see the world through Christ, rather than trying to see Christ through the world. This perspective helps us shape our views and actions in a way that reflects the teachings and life of Jesus.
- Categories of Engagement: We’ll explore how to discern when Jesus calls us to belong to culture and when we should distance ourselves from it. We’ll also discuss how we can be “artisans of redemption,” bringing the transforming power of the gospel into the world around us.
- Identity: We’ll reflect on how our identity is shaped, considering external influences (like culture), internal ones (our thoughts and emotions), and how God calls us to look “upward” to find our true identity in Him.
- Technology and AI: We’ll pause to think about the growing influence of technology, especially AI, in our lives. Is our tech usage fostering relationships of love, or is it diminishing them? We’ll consider how we, as heart-soul-mind-strength beings, are interacting with our increasingly “cyborg” reality.
- Reconciliation in Canada: We’ll address the important topic of reconciliation with Indigenous peoples in Canada. We’ll discuss the church’s role in educating ourselves about the history of colonization and how we can work toward peace and healing in our communities.
- Integration: Our goal is to live integrated lives where every part of us is transformed by the life of Christ. We’ll discuss how we can ensure no area of our lives remains untouched by the gospel.
