When the invasion of Ukraine started, the flood of refugees began to pour into Poland.
Polish church leadership have shared news of the massive endeavor to welcome and care for these refugees. And as a result, every possible location is being used to house, clothe and feed the people who have fled the bombing and destruction.
The Alliance Canada's National Ministry Centre is set up to receive donations for Ukraine relief.
The NMCs first response will be through the national church body, The Church of Christ in Poland. They have a department called Good Works Mission that will oversee the relief response. Bill Finnemore, a former International Worker in Poland, is well connected with the leaders there, and will be our liaison. He spoke with the director of the Good Works Mission department and learned that the national church campground, Ostróda Camp, is currently providing temporary housing for 180 refugees and they are planning to set up shelters for many more. Local churches are preparing to distribute food and necessary hygiene supplies as a first response.
