Helping and supporting people in marriage is something we value at NSAC.
Pre-Marriage Mentoring
One of our goals at NSA is to help create a foundation for healthy, strong marriages through our Pre-Marital Mentor program. This opportunity to prepare well for marriage matches an engaged couple with a trained mentor couple from our church community. Your mentors will meet with you for approx 6 sessions to facilitate conversation between you and your fiance(e) on a number of topics, for example, your family backgrounds, conflict resolution, finances, spirituality etc. Pre-Marital Mentoring is a requirement for couples being married by one of our pastors. Contact Anne Thicke, Community Life Pastor at annet@nsac.bc.ca for more information and to get started!
Marriage Mentoring
Already Married? We now have several couples trained to mentor married couples. All marriages have difficult seasons and this is a normal part of the marriage relationship. Job loss, children, busyness, health issues etc. can put a strain on our marriages. Or perhaps your marriage is in a good season - it may be a good time to grow and strengthen it. Marriage mentoring is an excellent opportunity to receive encouragement and support through guided conversation with another couple at our church. The commitment is to meet once a month for 10 months. Please contact Anne Thicke (annet@nsac.bc.ca) if you are interested in being matched with a mentor couple. For marriages in crisis, please contact one of our pastors for prayer and guidance and a recommendation for a professional counsellor.
Marriage Assessment
Prior to beginning Pre-Marital or Marriage Mentoring, we will highly recommend an online relationship assessment. This is a helpful tool to look at your personalities, what you each bring to the marriage, the areas of strength in your relationship and the areas for growth. After completing the assessment individually, you then meet with an NSA facilitator to review the assessment results. Another option is to complete the assessment, review with our facilitator and then decide if mentoring is a good next step. It's a great way to have an objective look at your relationship and can be very fun! Informative and helpful even if you've been married for decades!
Our heart is to support all marriages well at NSA, from helping lay a good foundation with Pre-Marital Mentoring to encouraging those already married! Prioritize your marriage and get connected with a mentor!
