Thank you so much for your patience as I figure out a new and improved way to update you on what I am doing here in Australia, it is much appreciated! For the last few months I have been serving YWAM Brisbane by managing the kitchen on base and will continue to do so in the time left before staffing another DTS in October. Having a more set schedule has allowed me to pursue more my call to serve the people of Australia, specifically in the country towns of Queensland.
Some weeks ago I got to head out to a town very near to my heart called Miles (about 5 hours north west of Brisbane) to go with some of the youth group to a camp called Downpour. Some youth leaders from a nearby town have started putting this camp on every year for surrounding youth and it was on fire! Despite learning a lot myself from the guest speakers and time spent seeking God in my own life, God quickly showed me that I was there to walk with the youth from Miles and get to know them better. We ended up having a testimony time in our group and it was such an honour to see how God has been working in each of their lives and support them in that in any way I could. God has continued to show me through that weekend that being a missionary in this land right now means having relationship and community with it's people and walking with them in the hard things and the questions, not just putting on a good ministry time.
A few weeks ago myself and 9 other staff got to go help run a kids day camp a little closer to Brisbane. We helped with crafts, faceprinting, games and even put on a puppet show! One thing I love about Australian kids is how much they just love to share. I sat with one little boy and pretty soon he was telling me stories of the adventures he and his brother have on their mountain bikes.
I fall more in love with the Australian countryside and how God is moving there everyday!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support, I pray God blesses you ten fold.
Much love,
Beth
